Description
A cropped silk jacket built on a structured shoulder, the three-quarter sleeves sculpted into a soft curve. Frog closures run on an asymmetric line from collarbone to waist, drawing the eye off centre.
About the closures
Frog closures, known as pankou, come from Chinese dressmaking. Knotted cord fastenings like these can be traced back to the Song dynasty (960 to 1279), and over the centuries they became one of the defining details of Chinese dress, from Qing dynasty robes to the qipao. On the Aurelia we set them on an asymmetric line in silk satin. The detail is borrowed, and we would rather name where it comes from than leave it unsaid.
